Thai New Year 2011

JM was all set to play water with his water gun in todays Songkran festivities for kids only.

There were several events during the day that interested me and one of these was the sand pagoda competition. The participants in this event were all teenagers. I went around to choose the two best entries. The one above was my second choice, and the sand pagoda below in my opinion . . . .

was the most beautiful !

Really young kids had a lot of fun playing in the inflated playground.

The pole climbing competition was also fun, but it was so difficult to win due to the discomfort caused by scorching summer heat.

Buddhist bathed this Buddha image with perfumed water.

My son inspected his water gun in preparation for the biggest Songkran event . . .

playing with water !

His smile tells, a fun way to cool off during this hot, humid summer is to play water during Songkran. It was a truly enjoyable day for JM and he will join this event again next year !
